Executive Advising
“I have been in corporate life my entire career and now as an Executive Director of a nonprofit I am finding it so very, very different.”
“As a new Executive Director I am finding my time management to be a real issue.” |
The role of an Executive Director is uniquely challenging because unlike the role of a corporate CEO, the nonprofit director is most often involved in many more aspects of the organizations direction and day to day operations, being both internally and externally focused at the same time. Executive Advising helps discover, sort out and focus the types and levels of energy spent by the Executive Director. Thinking Sideways is a tool developed by LeadTeam to assist the Executive Director with personal leadership energy management.
Executive Advising also includes working directly with boards and search and screen teams to prepare for executive transition, succession planning and search processes. The monograph, In Search of Extraordinary Leadership: Securing Your Next Executive Director (2006) written by Corky McReynolds and published by the Association of Nature Center Administrators is commonly used by organizations and is the cornerstone of LeadTeam consulting to boards. |
“Corky McReynolds has been my Executive Advisor in professional and personal matters for over 7 years. He listens attentively to the issue at hand, relates with a wealth of personal or learned experiences that convey true understanding, then advises on possible multiple outcomes with succinct solutions. But what really sets Corky apart from other advisors is his thoughtful and productive follow-up that gives me pause for consideration. Over the years, he has advised me on how to navigate mission focused strategic planning, sensitive board related issues, and envisioning a strategic horizon for my own personal growth and development. If you need a steady, thoughtful and clear advisor, Corky McReynolds will support you every step of the way.”

“Corky brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table and after sharing trends, facts, and figures, he encourages his clients to make a decision that is the best fit for them – he then supports them as they navigate their way through the process. He is knowledgeable, yet approachable, professional but human. He encourages thoughtful action and supported us as we strove to make the best decisions for our organization. Corky’s outgoing and engaging personality and deep knowledge in the subject matter make him an outstanding facilitator. In a short time we had everything we needed –both tools and knowledge - to create the work process for our Executive Director Search.”
